THE QUAKESCHOOL DESK

It has been a few years now since http://quakeschool.org was first launched as an experimental domain name in order to make use of GSHAP’s Earthquake Database to assist with the seismic safety assessment in the schools.

Essentially, the earthquake of 2001 in Gujarat, India has been our starting point; and the increasing exposure of people across the globe to various hazards, especially in the developing countries, has extended our concern to a larger domain. The best way we have learned and believe, is to reach out to and through Schools. Since learning, fun, and exploration are basic needs and rights of a growing up individual, and should go hand in hand, we would like to facilitate this process.

Currently efforts are underway to move Quakeschool into an organizational domain as a research, consultancy and implementation assistance agency. Quakeschool will be glad to assist agencies across India and the world with this mammoth task.
