Provide a skill building training avenue for construction workers and building artisans
Syllabus is according to the individual skill set (given in the list below).
The syllabus will be unique to the list of construction activities, and evaluations will carry 70% weight age on hands-on experimental or site work. 30% weight age will be provided on oral and written competencies.
The syllabus is designed keeping in view the ‘Certification Levels’.
A typical syllabus at lower levels will include test of skills on speed and accuracy of a minimal quality to the given construction activity. The increasing grade will require candidate’s improvement in quality, speed and accuracy of work. The highest grade will prepare an artisan with his portfolio/resume, tool kits and other resources. At highest levels of Master mason and Artisan, Test of wisdom by a test panel/jury is proposed. Contractors working as established individuals are encouraged to join as associates to the programme.
The syllabus content for each skill can be broadly listed as following:
Theory
1. Need for the construction activity
2. Various techniques and tools used in carrying out the construction activity
3. Specialized latest machinery in use in the said construction activity
4. Indian standards and related guidelines
5. Achieving proficiency in interpreting construction drawings
6. Simplified mathematics
7. Simple management techniques (Rate analysis, estimation and insights into bidding and tendering process)
Hands-on or demonstrative

2. Hazard and Safety requirements
3. Achieving basic proficiency in communicating through basic drawing
4. A small model house building workshop focusing on the particular component
The syllabus content and modules are being worked on, therefore not uploaded. Please contact for any queries.

The certificates is planned to be provided in six grades; as below.
1. IH: Helper
2. CA: Appreciation of skills/ Associate
3. IA: Apprentice
4. IB: Basic Level
5. IM: Master Mason
6. IZ: Artisan
7. OP: Machine operator
Refer
to the flowchart for certification types and level. Individuals can
enroll at any level but will have to pass a competency and aptitude
test. This test can be undertaken on a nominal fee and will involve
practical as well as theoretical competency check. Theoretical test are
oral and written as suited to the artisan.
***
The
IH (Helper) certificate is to facilitate employment and aims at
providing social security; especially to labourers working as masons.
The ‘IH’ skill category is presently a large unmonitored workforce in
India leading to concerns in construction quality. The ‘IH’ grade will
be assigned or can choose a mentor of IM (Master Mason) or IZ (Artisan)
level.
‘IA’
will be a slight step higher than ‘IH’ and will be leading to a basic
level certification. The ‘IA’ grade will be assigned or can choose a
mentor of IM (Master Mason) or IZ (Artisan) level.
IB
(Basic Level) masons are the ones certified to work independently at
the sites but will still remain apprentices under either IM (Master
Mason) or IZ (Artisan).
IZ
(Artisan) is the highest skill level and will be recognizing sound
fundamentals of quality, economy and aesthetical delivery of the
projects by an individual artisan.
CA
(Appreciation of skills) is an associate position to well placed and
established contractors and builders in the industry. They can also be
known as patronizing members to the programme/institution, but will be
working under the mentoring of IM (Master Mason) or IZ (Artisan) and
will be awarded an evaluation based certificate.
OP (Operators) are machine operators and will be looked at individually for individual equipments with the industry.

We are looking to build a team which can work across the country. At the moment we have one formal opportunity [link] based in Gujarat
